Our new Journey

So after so long of ttc on our own and so many BFN's we made the leap onto ttc with medical help. I thought it would be a good idea to start a journal of everything we have been through, going through and what may still be to come.

After ttc for over a year i went to see my GP on Feb 10th 2009. My cycles had been pretty off for some months, In Sept 2008 i had a very long cycle, which the thought of pregnancy ran through my head, of course i wasnt. After that cycle my cycles started to act odd, i had a 16 to 18 day cycle with light to medium bleeding for 4 days, sometimes 2 days of flow the rest spotting. So when it was still the same come Feb this year i made an appointment to see my GP, she was fab, explained that she wasnt sure if i was ovulating with my cycles being so short. She ordered up some blood tests for me to check my hormones thyroid etc. On the 11th Feb i had the blood drawn and so we waited. On Friday 14th Feb 09 i got a call from the nurse at my GP surgery with test results. What had come back was all normal except my thyroid was sitting borderline and they want to restest me in 6mths time.
On March 10th i recieved a letter from my GP stating that the last of the results were back, so i called and got an appointment that afternoon to see her. Of course when we got their it was mother and baby clinic day and i was surronded by new mothers and mothers to be. One girl was sitting in her school uniform heavily pregnant, i just wanted to cry. So i finally got into see the doctor and she told me that i have high levels of Androgens in my system, which indicates PCOS. And she now thought it was time for me to be reffered onto a specialist.

On June 1st 2009 i had my first appointment with the gyn. I saw a different doctor to who i thought i was going to see, her name is Dr Yassan and she was fabulous. Annoyingly though the GP hadnt sent on the test results to her so she was working without them. She went over my cycles and how they had been pretty wacky, infact this cycle has been the longest yet sitting at CD47 and still no sign of AF. I meantioned how long this cycle was and how i had taken hpt's and they were all BFN's. so she told me to take another and if still nothing to go see my doctor, Anyway she took bloods for more testing from me, and got all the paper work together for dh to have an SA done. She also done an examination to see the extent of my scar tissue, of which she couldnt see anything lol so she spoke with the head gyn who done my smear test last year and they both think the scar tissue is also a factor and that i might have to have some of it removed. We also spoke of the chance of a natural birth with the extent of the scar tissue and she says its highly doubtful that i will have a natural birth which is oki i dont mind as long as when i have a baby he/she arrives safely. She told me that when my next cycle arrives to make an appointment with the doctors to have blood taken around cd5 to see if i am ovulating. She gave us another date to go back on August 31st after all the testing etc is done and we will see where we go from there.

When we got home dh foned for a date to take in his first SA, he got the 3rd of June, which has past and we handed in the SA at the pathology lab. he was given another date for his second SA which is on the 17th of June beyween 8-11am.

On Thursday 4th of June i had an appointment with my GP about my absent AF and she recons i didnt ovulate this cycle or any other cycle and that AF should start soon. She also told me when she arrived it would be heavy and more than likely pretty sore. She advised me to make an appointment with them for the blood draw on CD7 of my next cycle and they would take blood weekly to try and pin point ovulation.

So thats about it so far, i will update this when i have more info or news on our journey
